The absence is doing a lot of work.

Crane’s refusal to appear transforms the personal website into a site of productive uncertainty. Across withheld portraiture, administrative emptiness and unverifiable performance, the artist asks whether a picture is still worth a thousand words when the museum has already written twelve hundred.
